India reported 30,773 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, 13.7% lower than yesterday. 38,945 patients recovered during the last 24 hours. With this the recovery rate has increased to 97.68%. India’s Active Caseload is currently at 3, 32,158.
The centre has asked states and UTs to strengthen their health infrastructure and preparedness to tackle any further surge in Covid-19, while it also warned against any complacency. At a high level meeting chaired by the Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba, states and UTs were advised to undertake in-depth analysis of the Covid-19 situation, stock essential medicines and augment human resources.
Kerala continues to record cases below 30,000 as the state reported 19,325 new Covid-19 cases, 143 deaths and 27,266 recoveries in the last 24 hours.
Kerala government is all set to reopen schools from November 1. School-based classes for standards 1 to 7 and 10 to 12 will begin on November 1, while other classes will begin on November 15.
Government has also imposed special intensified stringent lockdown restrictions in the urban and Panchayat wards with critical spread of Weekly Infection Population Ratio above 10.
Maharashtra reported 3,391 new Covid-19 cases, 80 deaths and 3,841 recoveries in the last 24 hours. Even as the number of daily Covid-19 cases remained steady in the state on the eve of Ganesh Visarjan on 18 September, experts have said that the next 15 days would be crucial.
Meanwhile, Delhi recorded 41 new Covid-19 cases, 0 death and 44 recoveries in last 24 hours.
In a bid to ramp up the vaccination process, India’s cumulative Covid-19 vaccination coverage has surpassed 80 Crore. More than 85 lakh vaccine doses have been administered in the last 24 hours.
According to the government sources, in an attempt to meet the target of procuring more than 25 crore vaccine doses per month, India is about to get nearly 20 crore doses of Covishield and 3.5 crore doses of Covaxin on September.
