India reported 38,949 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours.

India reported 38,949 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, lower than the previous day figure. 40,026 patients recovered during the last 24 hours. With this the recovery rate has increased to 97.28%. Daily positivity rate reaches at 1.99%, less than 3% for 25 consecutive days.

India’s Active Caseload declines to 4,30,422. Active cases now constitute 1.39% of total cases. Southern states continue to remain a worry as India fights against the Covid-19 pandemic. The transmission of Covid -19 in Kerala is not significantly dropping even as the second wave of Covid-19 in the country falls in other states.

Kerala reported 13,773 new Covid-19 cases, 87 deaths and 12,370 recoveries in the last 24 hours. Karnataka reported 1977 new Covid-19 cases, 3188 recoveries and 48 deaths in the past 24 hours. Tamil Nadu reported 2,405 new Covid-19 cases, 49 deaths and 3,006 recoveries.

Apart from South India, some states of the northeast, such as Assam, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram, continued to record a spike in cases. Ahead of the much anticipated third wave, the Delhi government is working on its fleet of tankers as it has asked DTC to procure and operate oxygen cryogenic tankers for transportation of liquid oxygen. At least 15 tankers will be procured by DTC.

The Union health secretary Rajesh Bhushan has written to all the states and union territories and has reiterated the need for focus on test treat, track, vaccinate and adherence to Covid-19 appropriate behavior strategy as states and Union territories give relaxations in restrictions.

According to comprehensive new research released on 16th July, as many as one in every two people hospitalised with severe Covid-19 go on to develop other health complications. As India records a gradual decrease in Covid-19 case tally, many countries have again started reporting fresh new cases of the coronavirus infection.

Indonesia has replaced India as the country recording the second highest number of daily Covid-19 cases in the world after Brazil, with infections spiralling in the southeast Asian country by 45% over the last seven days.
