64,818 patients recovered during the last 24 hours. With this the recovery rate has increased to 96.72%. Daily recoveries continue to outnumber the Daily New Cases for the 44th consecutive day. India’s Active Caseload declines to 5,95,565 which is the lowest in 86 days.
Kerala reports 11,546 new Covid-19 cases, 118 deaths and 11,056 recoveries in the last 24 hours. Karnataka reported 3,310 new cases, 6,524 discharges and 114 deaths in the last 24 hours. Maharashtra reported 9,677 new Covid-19 cases, 156 deaths and 10,138 recoveries in the last 24 hours.
According to the health ministry, the 2nd wave of Covid-19 is not yet over in India. It is present in 75 districts with more than 10% prevalence and in 92 districts with 5-10% prevalence. Health ministry has said Genome sequencing of every case is necessary to determine if it is reinfection or vaccine failure.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra has become the first state to administer 3 crore vaccine doses. Labelled as a variant of concern by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India reported 51 cases of Delta plus variant so far.
Maharashtra has reported its first Covid-19 death linked to the Delta Plus variant. With this, Maharashtra has become the second state to report deaths due to Delta+ variant after Madhya Pradesh. The head of the World Health Organization said that the Covid-19 delta variant, first seen in India, is “the most transmissible of the variants identified so far,” and warned it is now spreading in at least 85 countries. According to WHO, the lack of vaccines in poor countries has exacerbated the delta variant’s transmission.
