India reported 48,786 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, 6% higher than yesterday. 61,588 patients recovered during the last 24 hours. With this the recovery rate has increased to 96.97%. Daily recoveries continue to outnumber the daily new cases for the 49th consecutive day.
India’s active caseload declines to 5,23,257. Active cases now constitute 1.72% of total cases.
The transmission of Covid -19 in Kerala is not significantly dropping even as the second wave of Covid-19 in the country falls in other states. Kerala reported 13,658 new Covid-19 cases, 142 deaths and 11,808 recoveries in the last 24 hours.
Tamil Nadu has maintained the new Covid-19 cases below the 5000 mark for the third consecutive day. Tamil Nadu reported 4,506 new Covid-19 cases, 113 deaths and 5,537 recoveries.
Maharashtra reported 9,771 new Covid-19 cases, 141 deaths and 10,353 recoveries in the last 24 hours. India administered more than 25.14 lakh vaccine doses in the last 24 hours. With this India’s cumulative Covid-19 vaccination coverage crosses 33.57 Crore.
On 1st July, Indian drugmaker Zydus Cadila said, that it has applied to the country’s drug regulator for emergency use approval of its Covid-19 vaccine, ZyCoV-D and that it plans to manufacture up to 120 million doses of the shot annually.
The European Union’s reluctance in accepting Indian-made vaccines for its ‘vaccination passport’ has triggered a face-off with New Delhi. This means that unless the European Union accepts Covishield and Covaxin certificates, their certificates will not be accepted in the country and people from EU will face mandatory quarantine upon arrival in India. The EU “green Pass” is expected to come into effect from July 1.
