India reported 14,306 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, 10% lower than yesterday. 18,762 patients recovered during the last 24 hours. With this the recovery rate has increased to 98.18%. The daily positivity rate reaches at 1.43%, less than 2% for the last 21 days.
India’s Active Caseload currently stands at 1,67,695, the lowest in 239 days. Active cases now constitute less than 1% of total cases, currently at 0.49%. While the absolute number of patients still remains low, many hospitals have reopened their Covid-19 wards with some seeing even 20-25% more patients this week, as against a week ago.
Relatively, the two most affected states recording maximum Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours are Kerala and Maharashtra.
Kerala reported 8,538 new Covid-19 cases, 11,366 recoveries and 71 deaths in the last 24 hours. Maharashtra reported 1,410 new Covid-19 cases, 18 deaths and 1,520 recoveries in the last 24 hours.
On the other hand, West Bengal is witnessing an increase in new cases following the festive season. The Covid-19 situation in West Bengal deteriorated as 989 more people tested positive for the infection in the last 24 hours. Kolkata reported 273 fresh new cases and 2 deaths, whereas North 24 Parganas reported 146 new cases and 2 deaths in the last 24 hours. Fresh cases surged for the fifth consecutive day after the state recently celebrated the mega event of Durga Puja.
Several States have reported daily spike in Covid-19 cases like Assam saw a surge of 42%, Bengal 41%, Himachal Pradesh 25% and Delhi 9%.
In a bid to ramp up the vaccination process, India’s has administered the cumulative figure of 102.27 Crore vaccine doses.
