Covid-19 India Update: Highest Single-Day Vaccination Coverage, Crosses 1Cr Mark

According to the data on the CoWIN website, Uttar Pradesh administered the highest number of doses on 27th August at 28.62 lakh, followed by Karnataka at 10.79 lakh doses.

India reported 46,759 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, marginally higher than yesterday.

31,374 patients recovered during the last 24 hours. With this the recovery rate has increased to 97.56%.

Daily positivity rate reaches at 2.66%; less than 3% for last 64 days. India’s Active Caseload is currently at 3, 59,775. Active cases now constitute 1.10% of total cases. 

Southern states continue to remain a worry as India fights against the Covid-19 pandemic. The two most affected states recording maximum Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours are Kerala and Maharashtra.

On 27th August nearly 70% of Covid-19 cases came from Kerala as it reported 32,801 Covid-19 cases,179 deaths and 18,573 recoveries in the last 24 hours.

Kerala continues to report over 30k cases for the third consecutive day with positivity rate climbing to 19.22%. 

Maharashtra reported4,654 new Covid-19 cases, 170deaths and 3,301recoveries in the last 24 hours.

With Kerala and Maharashtra witnessing a worrying surge in Covid-19 cases, the central government has directed the states to adopt a 5-fold strategy of test-track-treat-vaccinate and ensuring COVID appropriate behaviour for controlling the sudden spurt in infections.

Delhi recorded 46 new Covid-19 cases 0 death and 62 recoveries in last 24 hours. The Delhi government has decided to reopen schools in a phased manner beginning September 1. Classes for standard 9th to 12th will begin from September 1 while classes for standard 6th to 8th will begin from September 8.

In a bid to ramp up the vaccination process, India’s cumulative Covid-19 vaccination coverage hassurpassed 62 Crore.

The country also achieved a new milestone in its Covid-19 vaccination drive by administering over 1 crore doses on 27th August, its highest single-day count so far.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya took to Twitter to congratulate the people for making the immunisation exercise a success. 

As per the CoWIN portal, over 14 crore people in the country have received both doses of Covid-19 vaccines. According to the data on the CoWIN website, Uttar Pradesh administered the highest number of doses on 27th August at 28.62 lakh, followed by Karnataka at 10.79 lakh doses. 

Amid fears of third wave of Covid infections, the country is now racing against time to meet its target of fully vaccinating its adult population by the end of this year.
