India reported 1,68,063 fresh Covid-19 cases, 6.4% lower than the previous day figure. 69,959 patients recovered during the last 24 hours. The recovery rate reaches at 96.36%. The daily positivity rate reaches at 10.64%. India’s active caseload currently stands 8, 21,446, active cases stand at 2.29%.
Relatively four states namely Kerala, Gujarat Karnataka and Tamil Nadu reported maximum Covid-19 fresh cases in the last 24 hours, with all four recording 5,797, 6,097, 11,698 and 13,990 cases respectively.
According to the data given by Health Ministry, A total of 4,461 Omicron cases were reported in India so far.
The three states that recorded more than 15,000 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours are Maharashtra, West Bengal and Delhi.
Maharashtra reported 33,470 new Covid-19 cases, 29,671 recoveries, and 08 deaths in the last 24 hours. Mumbai recorded 13,648 Covid-19 cases and 5 deaths in the last 24 hours. West Bengal reported 19,286 new Covid-19 cases, 8,187 recoveries, and 16 deaths in the last 24 hours.
Delhi logged 19,166 fresh Covid-19 cases, 14,076 recoveries, and 17 deaths in the last 24 hours. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal addressed a press conference on Covid-19 at 12 noon today. The Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has issued fresh guidelines stating that all private offices should be closed barring those who fall under ‘exempted category’. A day before DDMA also directed restaurants and bars to be closed in the city.

Amid a steep rise in Covid-19 cases across the country, the Indian Council of Medical Research has issued a new advisory waiving off testing requirements for many categories including contacts of confirmed Covid-19 cases unless they are identified as “high-risk” based on age or co-morbidities. The advisory explained that the asymptomatic individuals in community settings, patients discharged from a Covid-19 facility and individuals undertaking inter-state domestic travel need not be tested.
