India has recorded more than 40 Lakh Covid-19 Vaccine jabs in the last 24 hours. With this India’s cumulative Covid-19 vaccination coverage crosses 38 Crore. According to the CoWin portal, a total of 30 crore people have been given the first dose of the vaccine and a total of 7.3 crore people have received their second dose.
Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Biotech, Krishna Ella has said that the firm has submitted all the documents required for the emergency use listing on 9th July. She added that the review process has now started with the expectation that they will receive the EUL from the WHO at the earliest.
Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, Sputnik V’s local distribution partner released a statement on 12th July that assured to strengthen the commercial roll-out of Sputnik V Covid-19 vaccines in India in the coming weeks. The local distribution partner of Sputnik V added that neither the ongoing soft commercial launch nor work towards its ramp-up in India have been put on hold.
WHO’s Chief Scientist Soumya Swaminathan has said that mixing and matching Covid-19 vaccines from different manufacturers is a “dangerous trend” and could lead to chaos as there is limited data on the practice.
The US Food and Drug Administration warned on 12 July that Johnson & Johnson’s Covid-19 vaccines may increase the risk of Guillain-Barre syndrome, a rare neurological illness that can cause muscle weakness and occasionally paralysis.
