Covid-19 Update: 41,383 New Cases; Marginally Lower Than Yesterday | July 22

India Reported 41,383 new Covid 19 cases in the last 24 hours, which is marginally lower than yesterday.

38,652patients recovered during the last 24 hours. With this, the recovery rate has increased to 97.35%. The daily positivity rate is at 2.41%, which is less than 3% for 31consecutive days.

Among states, Kerala, Maharashtra and the northeast are still going through a surge while Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal and Odisha seem to have plateaued.

Following the Supreme Court’s rap to Kerala government over easing of Covid restrictions for Bakrid, the state has announced a complete lockdown for July 24 and 25.

Meanwhile, the World Health Organization has said that highly contagious Delta variant of COVID-19 is expected to become the dominant strain of the virus over the coming months. The WHO also said that the Delta, which was first detected in India, has now been recorded in 124 territories — 13 more than last week — and already accounts for more than three-quarters of sequenced specimens in many major countries.
