India reported 43,509 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, which is marginally lower than the previous day figure.
38,465 patients recovered during the last 24 hours. With this, the recovery rate is currently at 97.38%.
22 districts across seven states are reporting a rise in Covid-19 cases making it a “cause for concern”. Seven of these districts are in Kerala, and two in Maharashtra, with the rest, spread across the Northeast.
The rise in the daily Covid-19 cases is mainly because of a big surge in Kerala, which continues to account for over 50% of India’s new cases for the second straight day.
According to the latest serosurvey done by the Indian council of medical research, Two-third of the population surveyed in 11 states now has coronavirus antibodies. As the threat of the third wave of Covid-19 looms large, the central government on July 28 asked the states and Union Territories to conduct state-specific serosurveys in consultation with the Indian Council of Medical Research to generate district-level data on seroprevalence.
