As Odisha government notified to administer Covid-19 vaccine to pregnant women in the state, the Bhubaneshwar Municipal Corporation conducted a special vaccination drive to vaccinate expectant mothers on 21st July. The Bhubaneshwar Municipal Corporation tweeted about the vaccination drive, saying that the pregnant women were administered the Covid-19 vaccination dose in a hassle-free manner.
According to the notification, pregnant women could avail the free vaccine services at all Urban Community Health Center (UCHC), Urban Primary Health Center (UPHC), and Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar. The Odisha government had appealed to all pregnant women to visit the vaccination centres only on Wednesday and Saturday from 11am to 1Pm.
Women are required to carry valid ID proof (Aadhar/PAN Card) and an MCP card (Mother and Child Protection) to the vaccination centres. According to the guidelines, the beneficiaries were initially counseled about the benefits of the vaccine and the possible side effects. They were then administered the vaccine following their consent.
As of 21st July, a total of over 10 lakh people had taken the first jab in the city while over 6 lakh have been fully vaccinated.
