The Maharashtra government of Uddhav Thackeray is facing a crisis with senior minister Eknath Shinde and over 30 other Shiv Sena MLAs deciding to break away from the party.
The Shiv Sena-led Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government was in crisis after it “lost touch” with minister Eknath Shinde, who was in Gujarat’s Surat along with over a dozen lawmakers, in what it called was an attempt to bring down the state’s coalition government.
Rebel Shiv Sena MLA Eknath Shinde refused to go back on his demands as he insisted that the party support BJP-led government in Maharashtra.
A delegation of leaders led by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s confidants Milind Narvekar and Ravindra Phatak met Shinde in Surat today. Shinde, who is camping with 33 other party legislators at the Le Meridien Hotel in Gujarat’s Surat, told them BJP is Sena’s obvious partner.
