The first day of Delhi Metro resuming at full capacity began with a rocky start. The day didn’t start off as authorities would have liked it to as mild tremors in the national capital brought trains to a halt.

Due to this unexpected halt, Delhi Metro witnessed long queues of commuters outside the metro stations on July 26.

Delhi Metro was slated to begin running at 100% capacity on July 26 after Delhi Disaster Management Authority announced further relaxations in Delhi.

Long queues were seen outside the busiest Delhi Metro stations such as Anand Vihar, Akshardham and Nirman Vihar.

Commuters were seen in serpentine queues waiting for the gates to reopen. The stairs and roads outside some of the stations were seen filled with commuters waiting to board the Delhi Metro trains.

While people expressed relief and happiness about metro services resuming in full capacity after a long time, some commuters were also seen complaining about the lack of information regarding the services.

The Delhi Metro had clarified earlier that only 50 passengers will be allowed to sit in each coach as opposed to 300 per coach prior to Covid 19.
