Durga Puja 2021: Kolkata Bakery Makes 25 Kg Belgian Chocolate Durga Idol

Durga Puja this year took off with fanfare in Kolkata in spite of Covid-19 norms set to slow down celebrations.

Many high-budget pandals executed their theme Pujas with panache, from a Burj Khalifa set-up to heavy gold jewellery for the idol of the goddess. 

But can you imagine a 25kg dark Belgian chocolate idol of Goddess Durga .

A Kolkata bakery actually built this masterpiece and the result will tempt you.

 A handcrafted 4-feet-tall chocolate Durga idol is on display at the Flury bakery. However, this chocolate Durga is a feast that is made solely for your eyes. According to the bakery the chocolate idol is 4 feet tall and they took 15 days to create this masterpiece.

The chefs claim that they were faced with various challenges as chocolate has a low melting point and it was important that the temperatures were kept right so that the sculpting did not crack .

According to the bakery the  idol will be immersed in milk and a milkshake will be made which will then be distributed among underprivileged children after Vijay Dashami. There is also a hint of gold dust to adorn the embroidery of the Goddess’ sari.

The cocoa butter was used to solidly the idol and give it a glossy texture and a traditional touch was given in the design of the motifs .
