EXCLUSIVE: Will It be CM Charanjit Channi Vs aAP’s Arvind Kejriwal In Punjab Polls 2022?

India Ahead’s Smita Sharma on Friday spoke to the members of civil society in Chandigarh, to get a sense of how the Punjab Polls 2022 will shape out in the state. Chief Minister Charanjit Channi has hit the ground running, will it be a direct faceoff with Arvind Kejriwal in the Punjab Polls 2022?

Retired Professor, Punjab University, Rana Nayyar explained how the Punjab Poll 2022 will be different than any other election. “There is going to be a greater confusion than what we had in 2017. Captain Amarinder Singh has slotted his own party, Shiromani Akali Dal also has another outfit and of course, there are new alliances that are merging so there is going to be a greater confusion,” he said.

 Dr. Kanwalpreet Kaur, a political scientist told India Ahead News that a lot of young people are flying abroad because of the lack of opportunities in the state. “At the moment, Punjab is bombarded by freebies but half of the freebies, people don’t understand and half they don’t want. Enough is enough, we don’t want freebies, we want development in the real sense, with more jobs and opportunities for the youth,” she said.

One year of the farmer’s protest forced the Narendra Modi government to back down and repeal the three farm laws. India Ahead’s reporter spoke to some of the farmers. “We feel happy that the three laws were repealed but, we will stay here till the time the government doesn’t repeal all the additional laws,” said a farmer at the Gazipur border.
