The weather department predicts that the heatwave in Delhi is expected to worsen. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert. in the national capital, as the mercury crossed 46 degrees celsius. Delhi on Friday saw its temperature soar to 46.1 degrees at Najafgarh. A yellow alert has been issued for the heatwave on Sunday.
This is the fifth heatwave recorded in the national capital this year. Most parts of northern India are reeling under extremely hot weather conditions. The maximum temperature touched almost 48 degrees in parts of Rajasthan. At least 29 cities in states including Gujarat, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh reported temperatures above 44 degrees celsius.
Currently, Karnataka’s Bengaluru is the only city that is experiencing a cold summer, with the maximum temperature of 23 degrees on Thursday. Meanwhile, IMD has predicted an early Southwest monsoon which will hit Kerala first, and then journey to other states.
