Happy Birthday: Google Pays Tribute To Feminist Icon, Educator Fatima Sheikh With A Doodle

Google is today celebrating 191st birth anniversary of Indian educator
and feminist icon Fatima Sheikh with a doodle.

She is widely considered to be India’s first Muslim woman teacher.

Sheikh alongside pioneers and social reformers like Jyotirao and Savitribai Phule co-founded the Indigenous Library in 1848, one of India’s first schools for girls.

Sheikh went door-to-door to invite downtrodden in her community to learn and escape the rigidity of caste system.
