India reported 13,058 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, lowest daily rise since early March. 19,470 patients recovered during the last 24 hours. With this the recovery rate has increased to 98.14%. The daily positivity rate reaches at 1.11%, less than 3% for the last 50 days.
India’s Active Caseload is currently stands at 1, 83,118, the lowest in 227 days. Active cases now constitute less than 1% of total cases, currently at 0.54%.
According to the government data, more than 102 crore vaccine doses have been provided to States and Union Territories so far through government of India and through direct state procurement category.
According to the chairman of the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (NTAGI), Dr NK Arora, no new coronavirus ‘variant of concern’ has emerged in the last six months. He also added that a constant vigil is a must to track and contain further spread of the new emerging variants.
Relatively, the two most affected states recording maximum Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours are Kerala and Maharashtra.
Kerala reported 6,676 new Covid-19 cases, 11,023 recoveries and 60 deaths in the last 24 hours. Maharashtra reported 1,485 new Covid-19 cases, 27 deaths and 2,078 recoveries in the last 24 hours.
Following the meeting chaired by Maharashtra’s chief minister Uddhav Thackeray on decisions over more relaxations in Covid-19 norms, the state government has decided to extend the timings of restaurants and shops during the festive season. The issue of vaccination to children was also discussed in the meeting.
With 22.5% decline in weekly Covid-19 cases, the Karnataka government has decided to permit classes for standard 1 to 5th strictly adhering to covid-19 appropriate norms. However, parental consent letter for physical classes is mandatory.
India inches towards the 100-crore landmark vaccination coverage as it surpasses the cumulative figure of 98 Crore.
According to the data by John Hopkins University, the global coronavirus caseload has topped 241 million, while the deaths have surged to more than 4.90 million and vaccinations soared to over 6.61 billion.
