After movies like Gully boy and stars like Badshah and Raftaar getting mainstream limelight, rap has become very popular among millennials since it gives a voice to the unspoken feelings of the generation. This time rap music has found an outlet in Kashmir. The Muslim-dominated valley, tucked in the Himalayas, might not seem the most likely venue for this music, but Saqib Ajaz found a way to do something constructive amid the fear of batons and bullets in the region.
Taking inspiration from popular faces including Bohemia and Dino James, Saqib Ajaz has become a budding star of the Shopian Village. Penning down his thoughts and combining it with rhythmic sounds has been his ambition since early age. A young boy who belongs from Kashmir is a budding rapper who not only sings but also writes his songs.
In a bid to fulfill his passion for music and showcase his talent to the world, he started a YouTube channel with a name’ Saqib.X’. The 17-year-old is presently pursuing a diploma in Operation Theatre Technology and is currently in the second year of his course. The young rapper believes that Covid-19 pandemic and its restrictions gave him a lot of time to enhance his skills and write his songs. Ajaz dreams to perform in Bollywood one day.
According to him a writer needs a vibe and a rapper needs a beat to come out with the best output. Through his songs Saqib has spread awareness about Covid-19 and the growing drug addiction in Kashmir.
