On July 7, the legendary actor and the tragedy king of Bollywood Dilip Kumar passed away in the Hinduja Hospital of Mumbai.
As per the instruction of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, the funeral of veteran actor Dilip Kumar was held in a state funeral. Many took to social media and said that Actor Dilip Kumar left behind a legendary legacy that will continue to inspire generations of artists. Loved and respected by many in his fraternity, his death was mourned by people in India and abroad.
Bollywood’s first superstar, veteran actor Dilip Kumar was honored with the Dadasaheb Phalke award in 1994 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2015 for his contribution to Indian cinema. His last big-screen appearance was in the 1998 film “Qila”.
“Today is the end of an era, the end of a century, after India’s pre-independence there is no actor who does not have the impression of Dilip Sahab’s acting. In fact every artist, it may be a superstar or a small artist, Dilip Kumar Sahab is seen in all of them,” said Anupam Kher, Indian Actor.
His love and warmth for his family and friends were unmatched. He was not just a genius on screen but, also a great friend to many and a gem of a person. His contribution to cinema is huge and will remain immortal.
“I have given away my brother, he loved me the most. In our first meeting, it seemed as if we have known each other for a long time, now what else can I say everyone is talking about him already, what can I say about him? But today I got a big shock,” Dharmendra, an Indian Actor said.
Actor Amitabh Bachchan shared a picture with Dilip Kumar and wrote, “My idol Dilip Saheb… lost… never before never after…an epic era has drawn curtains, never to happen again. Peace and duas.”
Pakistan’s Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa provincial government mourned the demise of legendary actor Dilip Kumar, stating that he will always be remembered for the love and affection he had for the people of his ancestral hometown.
Sanjay Raut, the Member of Rajya Sabha said, “He was a good human before a big artist. He was the real king of the Bollywood industry. An era has ended with his passing, and this era can never be reconstructed because he was Dilip Kumar, he is one and only and he will always be that.”
“Today an institution has come to an end, an era of cinema has ended, I do not think that any artist like Dilip Saheb will take birth in the Hindi cinema in India. We were all his admirers,” said Ravi Kishan, Member of the Lok Sabha.
