The state of Kerala has been reporting a worrying Covid-19 Surge as compared to any other state. The rise in the daily Covid-19 cases is mainly because of a big surge in Kerala, which continues to account for over 50% of India’s new cases for the second straight day. Kerala Reported 22,056 daily Covid 19 cases on 28 July and 22,129 Covid 19 cases on July 27.
In view of increasing COVID-19 cases, the Kerala government on July 29 announced that a complete lockdown
Will be imposed across the state on July 31 and August 1. The weekend lockdown order was announced a day after Kerala registered a significant spike in its daily covid-19 cases.
Meanwhile, reports said that Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan has written to the Kerala government expressing concern over the “super spreader events” in Kerala recently. The health secretary asked the Vijayan administration to see that COVID guidelines are followed properly across the state. The Union health ministry on July 28 released state-wise seroprevalence data which showed that Madhya Pradesh has the highest percentage of seroprevalence while Kerala has the lowest.
This also explains why Kerala is reporting the maximum number of cases even when the other states report a continous decline in the daily number of cases.
