The earthern diyas made by the women prisoners in Moradabad’s district jail will enhance the beauty of every house this Diwali.
Apparently, the women prisoners have been making Lakshmi- Ganesha idols ranging from six to sixteen inches using cow dung.
According to the jail authorities, both Hindu and Muslim inmates have come together to work for promoting this eco-friendly initiative.
Interestingly, the idols made by the women prisoners are in high demand abroad as well as in the domestic market.
According to the prison officials, an NGO named Dyvigya Wellness Foundation is training as well as helping female inmates to sell their produce in the international market.
Reportedly, the inmates have been making the idols for the past two months, and so far around 2,000 idols and diyas have been made by them, selling at a price ranging from Rs 251 for the smaller diyas upto 3,100 for the bigger ones.
