The 100th birth anniversary of the former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao was celebrated with much pomp and show on 28 June. A 26-foot bronze statue of Rao was unveiled by Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan and Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao to mark his centenary birth celebrations.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the former Prime Minister via tweet.

The Vice President of India M Venkaiah Naidu paid tribute to Rao via twitter, describing him as the “undisputed torchbearer” of economic reforms in India.
My humble tributes to Shri PV Narasimha Rao, an astute administrator, statesman, visionary and the undisputed torchbearer of economic reforms in India on his hundredth birth anniversary. #PVNarasimhaRao pic.twitter.com/GIfNpBdlEZ

Rao was the first leader outside the Nehru-Gandhi family to last a full-term as Prime Minister after being elected in 1991. The official Twitter handle of the Congress remembered Rao as a visionary leader who oversaw major economic transformations.
While the top Congress leaders including Lok Sabha leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury tweeted on Rao, there were none from Rahul Gandhi or Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
100 years ago a prodigy Dr Narasimha Rao was born to radiate India by his erudition and determination which was reflected in the paradigm shift of modern India, widely recognised and adored as a great architect of economic reform in India.#NarasimhaRao

On the other hand, Rahul Gandhi drew sharp criticism from the BJP for not paying a tribute
BJP leader and Minister of State for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy accused Rahul Gandhi of being ‘so busy’ that he forgot to pay tribute to the leader who served the party lifelong. The absence of any personal tribute from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi sparked controversy as Rao’s grandson NV Subhash accused the Congress leadership of regional bias.
So busy is Shri @RahulGandhi that he has “forgotten” to pay tributes to Sri #PVNarasimhaRao Garu on his 100th Jayanti. Sri PVNR was a lifelong Congressman, yet appalling to see how one dynasty tramples over his legacy.
Such political untouchability is distasteful & unfortunate. pic.twitter.com/zQTyt035E6
