Veteran actor Dilip Kumar died at the age of 98 on July 7 at Mumbai’s PD Hinduja Hospital.
Dilip Kumar, with his ability to effortlessly portray an array of emotions in a single shot, has always been a Bollywood favourite. He passed away at the age of 98 on July 7. He had been admitted due to age-related issues. The actor is survived by his wife, veteran actor Saira Banu.
An actor par excellence, he was often called the trendsetter of the “golden age of cinema.”
Dilip saab, as he was fondly called, was conferred with the highest award in Indian cinema, the Dadasaheb Phalke award in 1994. Some of Kumar’s best known films are Devdas, Mughal-e-Azam, Gunga Jamuna, Ram Aur Shyam, Naya Daur, and Madhumati.
