Team India Homecoming: Men And Women Hockey Team Return Home After Scripting History In Tokyo Olympics

Both the teams created history in this year Tokyo Olympics. While Indian men’s hockey team rewrote history as they claimed an Olympic medal after 41 years, Women’s hockey team surpassed all expectations by entering the semifinals of the Olympics for the first time

Following Indian hockey teams outstanding performance at the Tokyo Olympics, a rousing welcome has been given to hockey players from across India. Eleven players of the men’s and women’s national hockey teams were accorded a warm welcome by Bhangara performers upon their arrival at the Sri Guru Ramdas Jee International airport in Amritsar.

The flock first visited the golden temple to offer prayers at the famous Gurdwara before heading to their homes.

Along with bouquets and garlands from families and fans, the men hockey team that won the bronze medal also received an award of Rs 1 crore by the Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee.

The felicitation ceremony was organized by SGPC at the Harminder Sahib where SGPC President Bibi Jagir Kaur congratulated the members of the Indian men hockey team.

Meanwhile, four Indian hockey players, Amit Rohidas Birendra Lakra, Deep Grace Ekka and Namita Toppo received a traditional welcome at Biju Patnaik International Airport as they returned to their home state Odisha.
