Heavy rainfall battered several parts of Telangana, for the fourth consecutive day. Low lying areas were flooded, road links were disrupted and normal life was disturbed as rainfall intensified.
In Savel village of Nizambad district, NDRF teams rescued 7 persons who were stranded in old age home due to flash floods. The rescued persons were shifted to rehabilitation centre.
On Thursday, the IMD department had issued a red alert for Telangana, warning of heavy to very heavy rains in several districts.
The IMD of Friday predicted heavy rainfall in 12 districts of Telangana. Red alert was issued for districts including Jagtial, Kumuram Bheem and Warangal. Orange alert was issued in 9 districts of the state.
Recently inaugurated Integrated District Collectorate Complex on the outskirts of Sircilla town was flooded as well. Authorities could be seen trying their best to drain out the water.
People in certain parts of Nirmal district were seen fishing using nets on the main road that was submerged in water.
Rescue and relief operations have been on in different parts of the state, where people were stuck due to flood-like situations.
Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao held a meeting with officials on Thursday, to take stock of the situation, and to ensure that people living in low lying areas do not face any hardships.
