The Weeknd Becomes Number One Artist On Spotify, Surpasses Justin Bieber

The Weeknd's recently released fifth studio album "Dawn FM" has dominated the Spotify charts in the U.S and around the globe, playing a role in the surge in listener’s count on Spotify.

Canadian Singer The Weeknd has become the most streamed artist on Spotify, surpassing Justin Bieber. The Grammy Award Winner has gathered more than 85.6 million monthly listeners on the music platform. 

The Weeknd’s recently released fifth studio album “Dawn FM” has dominated the Spotify charts in the U.S and around the globe, playing a role in the surge in listener’s count on Spotify. The album has collaborations with Tyler, the creator and Lil Wayne for guest vocals and Jim Carrey, as the DJ of the album’s namesake radio station. 

The Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, is known for his original style. His album Beauty Behind the Madness had bagged the Grammy Award for Best Urban Contemporary Album. The artist was listed by the Time magazine as one of the world’s most influential people in 2020.
