Tokyo Olympics 2020: Wrestler Ravi Kumar Dahiya To Compete For Gold Medal In Finals, Silver Assured

Wrestler Ravi Dahiya has made his way into the finals in the men’s 57 kg category, assuring the nation of a silver medal in wrestling, as he beat Kazakhstan’s Nurislam Sanayev. Dahiya is just one victory away from securing a gold medal for India. The wrestler is the second Indian to enter the Olympics finals.

It was an impressive comeback for the wrestler, who was at one point trailing at 9-2 in the match. Ravi won the match by fall.

Ravi’s father shared how the people of Haryana & the whole country have pinned their hopes for a gold medal on Ravi. The champion’s, win was cheered on by CRPF men in Jammu.

Law minister Kiren Rijiju called Ravi’s win the finest and most dramatic comeback that has confirmed one more medal, the wrestler has assured one more silver in India’s kitty.

Cricketer Sehwag, former Olympian Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore joined the chorus in congratulating the wrestler on the achievement

While Indians are elated at Dahiya’s win at one hand, there is also the disappointment of wrestler Deepak Punia losing semi-final 10-0  against USA’s David Taylor in the 86 kg category. However, India’s hopes of a medal from Punia are still alive as he will play for bronze medal on Aug 5.
