Badminton player PV Sindhu had been going strong in the event so far and was only one win away from entering the finals of the Tokyo Olympics 2020. However, P V Sindhu lost the semifinals of women’s singles after facing world number 1 Tai Tzu-Ying of Taiwan on July 31. PV Sindhu lost 18-21, 11-21 to Tai Tzu-Ying in the women’s singles semifinal.
This was one of the biggest matches of the Tokyo Olympics as India’s lone hope in badminton PV Sindhu took on world no. 1 in the Badminton Women’s Singles Semifinal of Tokyo Olympics.
The stage was set for a mega encounter as Sindhu, who has looked in great touch all tournament. PV Sindhu had defeated Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi in the quarter-finals to storm into the semi-finals.
PV Sindhu’s victory was even hailed by people from all across the country.
Meanwhile, the hope of a medal from Sindhu’s side is still not over as the badminton star will face China’s He Bing Jiao in the bronze-medal match on July 31.
