Yudh Abhyas 2021: Indian-US Soldiers Take Part In Joint Military Exercise In Alaska

The 17th edition of India-US joint military exercise is underway in Alaska. Soldiers from India and US are taking part in numerous activities and training for operations under the United Nations mandate.

The 17th edition of India-US joint military exercise is underway in Alaska. Soldiers from both the countries are honing their skills in counter terrorism operations and counter insurgency in the mountainous region in extremely cold weather conditions. They are taking part in numerous activities and training for operations under the United Nations mandate. 

The instructors from the Indian Army taught the US troops how to survive avalanches and extremely cold weather conditions.

Meanwhile, the US soldiers demonstrated how to set up an arctic tent that was later followed up by a competition to set the tents in the fastest possible time, consisting of mixed teams of soldiers from both countries. The US Army also demonstrated the use of underslung howitzer for carriage to an operation area.

Earlier, as part of ‘ice breaking activities’, the troops were also seen participating in friendly matches of Kabaddi, volleyball and soccer. 

The bilateral exercise, which has around 300 soldiers from US Army and 350 soldiers from Indian Army,  commenced on October 15 at the Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson, and will go on for 14 days.
