New Delhi: Recording another decline in the number of cases, Andhra Pradesh on Thursday (June 17) reported 6,151 fresh COVID-19 cases. However, the positivity rate in the state was at 5.9 per cent which is above the safe threshold of 5 per cent. 7,728 recoveries and 58 deaths were recorded in the same period. The state had recorded 6617 cases on Wednesday.
The active caseload in the state now fell below the 70,000-mark to 69,831, the health bulletin from the state government said.
Andhra Pradesh has recorded 18,32,902 since the start of the pandemic.
12,167 deaths have been reported while 17,50,904 people have recovered from the virus,]
East Godavari remained the worst affected districts with 1,244 fresh cases followed by Chittoor (937), West Godavari (647) and Prakasam (554) while the rest of the districts reported less than 500 daily cases.
In terms of deaths, Chitoor saw the most fatalities at 12 followed by Prakasam (7), Guntur (6), East Godavari (5), Anantapuramu (4), Krishna (4),West Godavari (4), Kadapa (2), SPS Nellore (2), Srikakulam (2), Visakhapatnam (2), Kurnool (2) and Vizianagaram (2).
Meanwhile, India reported another spike in new infections as 67,208 cases were recorded on Thursday, up from the previous day’s 62,224 cases on Wednesday, as per the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on June 17. A spike of 4,984 cases was registered in the last 24 hours.
