Team India allrounder Ravichandran Ashwin cherished his empathic performance and India’s mammoth win over England in the 2nd Test at Chennai with a special social media post on Tuesday (February 16).
Ashwin was in dazzling form when India took on England for the second Test in the four-match series, where he only bagged fifer but also a century on a much-talked about Chepauk pitch.
After India’s 317-run win, Ashwin took to Twitter and thanked the Chennai crowd for making him feel like a “hero”. The 34-year-old also picked up the Man Of The Match (MOTM) award for his match-winning display against the Three Lions at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
“I can’t express how I feel right now, but I am so very grateful to each and everyone who has wished me over the last few days. I would also like to thank the #KnowledgableChennaiCrowd for turning up in numbers and making me feel like a hero,” Ashwin tweeted.

Speaking at the post-match ceremony, Ashwin also revealed that during the COVID-19 lockdown he was working on his batting skills and on his footwork.
“During the COVID lockdown I practiced a lot with throwing balls on the ball and then batting to improve my drive and footwork and it became good and everything just added up when I hit the century. The reactions were natural,” Ashwin said.
A ruthless display from the Indian bowlers on day four of the second Test was enough to see-off England for a total of 164 runs in their second innings. Meanwhile, debutant Axar Patel bagged a five-wicket haul during England’s second innings with veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and Kuldeep Yadav picking up three and two wickets each, respectively.
