Khalilzad was appointed by the Trump administration as the man to lead the peace talks with the Taliban which led to several rounds of talks between the two parties in Doha, Qatar. The result of the talks was the signing of the Agreement for Bringing Peace to Afghanistan on February 29, 2020,
However, India was always kept out of the loop during these talks which were thought to be due to the objections that were raised by Pakistan.
Jaishnakar said that the latest developments taking place in the context of the peace talks were discussed between the two and he would surely be in touch with the American envoy.
