New Delhi: Led by President Joe Biden, the United States of America (USA) mourned the death of Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh and the husband of Queen Elizabeth II.

Earlier on April 9, Buckingham Palace announced that Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh has died. In a statement released online, the Royal family said that he passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle.

The statement says, “It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen announces the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle. Further announcements will be made in due course. The Royal Family join with people around the world in mourning his loss”.

President Joe Biden mourned the death of Prince Philip, saying his legacy will live on not only through his family, but in all the charitable endeavors he shaped. Biden tweeted, ”Prince Philip’s legacy will live on not only through his family, but in all the charitable endeavors he shaped. Jill and I are keeping the Queen and Prince Philip’s children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the people of the United Kingdom in our hearts during this time”.

The official statement by the President and the First Lady Jill Biden on the demise of Prince Philip read, ”On behalf of all the people of the United States, we send our deepest condolences to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the entire Royal Family, and all the people of the United Kingdom on the death of His Royal Highness Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh”.

”Over the course of his 99-year life, he saw our world change dramatically and repeatedly. From his service during World War II, to his 73 years alongside the Queen, and his entire life in the public eye — Prince Philip gladly dedicated himself to the people of the UK, the Commonwealth, and to his family. The impact of his decades of devoted public service is evident in the worthy causes he lifted up as patron, in the environmental efforts he championed, in the members of the Armed Forces that he supported, in the young people he inspired, and so much more”.

”His legacy will live on not only through his family, but in all the charitable endeavors he shaped. Jill and I are keeping the Queen and Prince Philip’s children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in our hearts during this time, ” it added.

US Vice President Kamala Harris sent her condolences to the Royal family, saying Prince Philip, led a long, remarkable life—the hallmarks of which were loyalty and service. Her tweet read, ”His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, led a long, remarkable life—the hallmarks of which were loyalty and service. Doug and I send our condolences to the Royal Family, the people of the United Kingdom, and the Commonwealth”.

Prince Philip was married to Queen Elizabeth II for more than 70 years and had become the longest-serving consort in British history. He was admitted to the hospital on February 16, 2021, after he was diagnosed with an infection and a heart-related problem. Later he was discharged after a month.

The BBC played the national anthem announcing the news with a picture of late Prince Philip in military uniform. He died just a couple of weeks ahead of his 100th birthday in June. The couple had been staying in isolation for a couple of months as their advanced stage made them highly at risk due to COVID-19.
