New Delhi: United State’s apex court of justice on Thursday blocked President Biden’s Covid-19 ‘Vaccine or Test’ mandate for all the employees working at large companies. Court separately allowed the vaccine mandate for staff at government-funded healthcare facilities.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration(OSHA) mandate required all the workers at businesses with 100 or more employees required to get vaccinated or submit a weekly negative covid-19 test report before entering the workplace.

The Supreme Court ruling came after three days when OSHA’s pandemic emergency precautionary step started to get implemented. “Covid-19 can and does spread at home, in schools, during sporting events, and everywhere else that people gather,”

“That kind of universal risk is no different from the day-to-day dangers that all face from crime, air pollution, or any number of communicable diseases.”

“This is no ‘everyday exercise of federal power,’” the court’s majority wrote as reported by BBC

“It is instead a significant encroachment on the lives – and health – of a vast number of employees,” they added.

President Biden who had the vision to get the population vaccinated soon and safeguard the citizens expressed disappointment on the court’s ruling by saying, “I call on business leaders to immediately join those who have already stepped up – including one-third of Fortune 100 companies – and institute vaccination requirements to protect their workers, customers, and communities.”, reports BBC.

Former President Donald Trump praised the Supreme Court’s decision, and said vaccine mandates “would have further destroyed the economy”.

“We are proud of the Supreme Court for not backing down,” he said in a statement. “No mandates!”, reports BBC.

The vaccine or test mandate instructs all the employees working in large offices to either wear masks or get vaccine shots or to present weekly covid-19 negative test reports. This has to be done bearing all expenses by the employees only.
